The app can't find my camera

GR Studio Companion

Connection Doctor is the same diagnostic the app uses internally — it steps through six checks in order and shows you exactly which one is failing, in the app's own words.

Steps

  1. 1

From the Camera tab, choose Run Connection Doctor. You can also reach it from Profile > Connection Doctor.

  2. 2

Wait while the app runs all six checks.

  3. 3

Read the result for each check — Pass, Fail, or Skipped.

  4. 4

Follow the fix shown under any check that didn't pass.

  5. 5

Choose Run again once you've made a change, to confirm it worked.

What each check means

These are the app's own checks and messages, word for word:

CheckWhat it means when it passesIf it fails
Bluetooth stateBluetooth is on.Turn on Bluetooth in Settings.
Bond presentBonded to your camera.Pair your camera from first-run pairing (Profile > Cameras).
Camera respondingCamera connected and responding over Bluetooth.Move closer to the camera, and make sure it isn't asleep, off, or in USB/playback mode.
AP visibleThe camera's WiFi network is visible.Wake the camera (its WiFi turns on with it) and make sure you're within range.
JoinedThis phone is joined to the camera's WiFi network.Rejoin the camera's WiFi from the Camera tab, or in Settings > WiFi.
HTTP reachableThe camera responded over HTTP.Try moving closer, or restart the camera and reconnect.

"AP visible" and "Joined" show as Skipped, not Fail, until you've connected to your camera at least once this way — the app needs to learn your camera's Wi-Fi network name first.

If Bluetooth itself won't turn on, the fix depends on what the app finds:

- Off: Turn on Bluetooth in Settings. - Not allowed: Allow Bluetooth access for GR Companion — Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth. - Not supported: This device doesn't support Bluetooth LE — GR Companion needs it to pair. - Resetting or unclear: Wait a few seconds and run the Doctor again.

Export the diagnostic log

Choose Export diagnostic log from the Connection Doctor screen to share a redacted copy of your results if you contact support.

If that didn't work

Every check ran and still shows a problem you can't clear? Export the diagnostic log and send it with your message using the link below.

Still stuck? We don't have a support address to give you yet. Use the Report control on any recipe or profile page to reach us— include the diagnostics file if the app offered one (here's how to find it →). A human reads every message.
